Beautiful antique wayang golek puppet: Jaka Tawang
Jakatawang (Mahabharata epic) is another name for Antasena, one of the sons of Bima (Werkudara). In the Sundanese wayang golek tradition in West Java, he is usually called Jakatawang. According to the wayang kulit traditions of Yogyakarta and Banyumas, he is the son of Bima and Dewi Urang Ayu. His body is covered with scales, symbolizing his connection to the underwater world and his supernatural origin. He also possesses a magical gift in the form of a poisonous moustache (sungut), which gives him special powers.
