Wayang golek puppet: Durga
Batari Durga is a terrifying goddess of the underworld, spirits, and demons. Usually depicted with a bare torso. Originally, she was the beautiful Dewi Uma, but due to a curse she was transformed into her demonic form. She resides in Setra Gandamayit and plays an important role in many stories, where she grants magical powers or tasks to those who dare to approach her. In some stories, she can regain her divine form.
Beautiful puppet from West Java, Indonesia. The puppet was made in the early 1990s.
